Way Funner
Run as often as you want; only your best single run each week scores. It adds into a five-person team total, handicapped bowling-style so you’re matched with runners your own speed. Teams reshuffle monthly.

A newer race (first run in 2024) already carrying real weight — a fast, runnable first 70 miles into a genuinely tough final 30 on Mt. Hood’s dry eastern side.

Course description
A lollipop-loop route: a 20-mile outbound stem from Mt. Hood Meadows into a dynamic 60-mile figure-eight loop through the mountain’s drier, sunnier eastern backcountry, then a 20-mile ridgeline return to the Meadows for the finish. 82 of the 100 miles are singletrack, with 8 miles of doubletrack, 7 miles of maintained gravel forest road, and 3 miles of pavement. Surprisingly fast and runnable for the first 70 miles, with a notably tougher final 30.
Elevation change
Approximately 17,300 feet of gain and 17,300 feet of loss.
Aid stations
14 aid stations total: 12 full-service with hydration, real food (soup, grilled cheese, quesadillas from Aid Station 6 onward), and on-site medical staff, plus 2 limited-service/self-service stations (Gunsight, both outbound and on the return) stocked with water and sports drink only. Key named stops include Bennett Pass (#2), Surveyors (#6), and Fifteenmile (#7) — the last two are where runners are expected to pick up mandatory night gear.
Special conditions & average temps
Midsummer days here are generally mild, but mountain weather shifts fast — harsh sun in the open sections, cold temperatures arriving quickly after sunset, especially with wind, and the occasional summer thunderstorm. Two working headlamps plus spare batteries are mandatory gear between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., no exceptions. This is a cupless race — bring your own drinking vessel. Trekking poles are allowed.
